"The Underground Railroad Quilt Code was a secret communication system passed down through oral tradition, a collection of quilt patterns that, when hung on a fence or cabin door to ‘air out,’ offered guidance to runaways traveling along the Underground Railroad. The pattern I’ve chosen for my scarf, ‘The Drunkard’s Path,’ meant that escapees should travel in a staggering fashion to confuse pursuing slave hunters." - Tré Seals

With the belief that design can change the world, Tré Seals is a research-based designer with a passion for storytelling. He is also the founder of the diversity-driven font foundry Vocal Type, through which each typeface highlights the histories of different underrepresented cultures and progressive movements from around the world.
