A self-taught visual artist, Saïdou Dicko was always inspired by shadows. Coming from his past as a shepherd, they are for him a way to pay a tribute to beauty and to represent the humanity of his characters. If some questions arise, the viewers have to solve the mystery. Saïdou Dicko doesn’t hide any preconceived and universal solution. It is the viewers’ duty to project their personal feelings. The life experiences of Saïdou Dicko, between Paris and Burkina Faso, his native culture and his travels, leave their mark on his work with poetry as well as mystery. Since 2003, his work has been presented at many international events (biennials, international fairs, exhibitions) and has entered the collections of international institutions.
"For several years now, I've been part of the founding group of the Naforre association, which plays a crucial role in a region facing water shortage problems. It focuses on water supply, the creation of vegetable gardens, and vital medical services, including a maternity hospital. These projects have proved their worth, particularly in saving lives, especially those of newborn babies. Naforre does not limit itself to alleviating water shortages, but also aspires to extend its impact to education." – Saïdou Dicko
Nafoore Cellal Association
Based in the Yagma pastoral zone on the outskirts of Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, the Nafoore Cellal Association was created by a group of young people concerned with the development and well-being of their communities. Involved in a number of different activities on the national scene, they decided to pool their ideas and experience in order to alleviate a number of problems in their living environment. Since its creation in 2019, this health and social promotion center has continued to evolve, with the installation of a dispensary, a maternity ward, a medicine depot and two housing units to accommodate patients. Through the rehabilitation of boreholes, their constant monitoring, and the installation of solar pumps, the association demonstrates a lasting commitment to the community.
